Its that time again, the first Bloodstock Open Air Advert for 2013 is now out there and looking to wet your ears for another great weekend of metal in the heart of Derbyshire in August 2013.

Orange Goblin 'A Eulogy for the Fans' Live 2012 Release Announced PDF Print E-mail

The Dark Box filmed and Produced the first live release from the mighty Orange Goblin which is released through Candlelight Records in the EU and USA in March 2013.

Containing full set live performances on DVD of both their Bloodstock Open Air, UK and Hellfest, France 2012 as well as 2 documentaries and official Music Videos.  In addition to the Live DVD, a live CD and double Vinyl of the Full Bloodstock Performance are also included

Discussing the album, Ward says: "For years, people have been asking us to release a live album. It's a warts-and-all recording to highlight exactly what you get at an ORANGE GOBLIN show. It's not over-produced; you can hear the bum notes and the forgotten lyrics as well as the energy and power emanating from the stage. And the crowd! I think that's what a good live album is all about. It's just the sound of us getting up on stage, plugging in and going hell for leather. Crack open a beer, turn it up loud and bang your head."

As usual this is a category where there isn’t much agreement between our writers, simply because devoting the time to watching a full DVD for a band you don’t already love isn’t usually in the cards. This year the most voted-for release was:

Devin Townsend - “By A Thread: Live In London”

The win wasn’t altogether unexpected, considering the box set sees Hevy Devy performing all four of his recent quadrilogy of albums: “Ki,” “Addicted,” “Ghost,” and “Deconstruction.” Trailing behind Devin Towsend in the number two spot was runner-up Stratovarius with the “Under Flaming Winter Skies” DVD.

Bloodstock Open Air 2012 - Live Streaming and event production PDF Print E-mail

The Dark Box took a big technological leap forward in August 2012 with the launch of our Video Live Streaming Service.  At Bloodstock Open Air Festival 2012 we filmed, produced and streamed all except 3 of the 90 main stage acts via Daily Motion with a little short of 250,000 views over the 4 day event!


The acts we worked with and streamed include:

Behemoth, DioDisciples, Freedom Call, Iced Earth, Malefice, Moonsorrow, Sepulture, Watain,Benediction, Crowbar, Cthonic, Hatebreed, IAmI, Machine Head, Sanctuary, Testament, Anvil, The Black Dahlia Murder, Corrosion of Conformity, Evile, Kobra & The Lotus, Nile and Paradise Lost.


In addition to the streaming of the main stage, we filmed across 2 other stages for Post-Production work and development. Watch this space for further updates!
