what's involved
It may seem daunting when deciding to make a film, but there are 5 steps we follow to make the process as easy and trouble free as possible in all our productions which are detailed below:

1. Scripting

Scripting is where the film is conceived and written down.

2. Preproduction

This is where budgeting, casting, location scouting, equipment and format selection, and storyboarding take place.

3. Production

Production is where we create the footage bringing together all the elements used to tell your story. For practical reasons, scenes are usually shot out of order, which means they have to be properly arranged during Postproduction.

4. Postproduction

Postproduction is where we organize & assemble the production footage, putting the scenes in proper order and selecting the best takes. Sound is synchronized with the picture, footage is colour corrected where required and any special effects are created. The final film is output onto high quality DVD with any pre-arranged extras such as menus (static or motion), stills & photographs, Bios & lyrics.

5. Distribution

Distribution is where you release the film for viewing either on the web (e.g. myspace, own website or YouTube), to send off as a demo to promote gig bookings or record label interest, sell at gigs and send off to music TV companies. The uses are only limited by your imagination.

At The Dark Box we are committed to helping you through each stage of the production process. So please contact us and lets start talking. Click here to find out how to contact us.
